- What Did We Ever Do Without Batteries? By:-Sue Wes
I don’t think there is a person on the planet that doesn’t use batteries. The oldest battery ever discovered is estimated to have been built between 250 B.C. and 250 A.D. In 1936, in an excavated tomb in Baghdad, archeologists found a clay jar with a copper cylinder sealed with bitumen. After many inventors, and hundreds of years, the alkaline battery as we know it today was developed in 1949 by Lew Urry while working at the Everyready Battery Company in Parma Ohio. It is always good to have extra batteries on hand just in case there is an emergency. Keep stocked up on all sizes, including a car battery. You never know when you might need extra power.

- Fascination with Invisible Worlds By:-Sue Wes
The earliest microscope was just a tube with a plate for the object at one end and a magnification lens that enlarged objects ten times its size on the other. These lenses were also called flea glasses because of the fascination of viewing fleas and other insects. There are all sizes and shapes of microscopes – one to suit and encourage your little one to explore different worlds, and those for industrial, scientific and medical use. No matter the size, it is surely to fascinate.
- Don’t Forget the Words By:-Sue Wes
Our voices need exercise just as our bodies do. But no matter what you believe about sound, or singing, music just makes you feel good. Especially if you can make your own, no matter what your voice sounds like – your body will resonate with the sound that is you.
